The EDL Roller Contact Sensor Holder is the number one choice across industries for measuring temperatures of moving or stationary smooth, flat surfaces. We offer them with a handle (RAH) or without a handle (RAB). These sensors include the holder only - all replaceable bands are sold separately. The holders allow interchangeable roller contact bands regardless of size, to be used with one holder – saving you time and money on replacement bands.

EDL's Roller Contact Surface Sensors are extremely accurate, fast, and effective on all cylindrical surfaces. Bands are durable and allow for rapid measurement response times. Bands are available in three standard sizes, 2.5", 5", and 12" to accommodate diameters from 1" to 120". These sensors are ideal for use on rotating or stationary pipes, drums, tanks, hoses, and much more.

Maximum temperature for T is 400 °C.

All EDL Surface Sensors come standard with a 32” lead with Stainless Steel overbraid.

As with all surface type sensors, Roller Contact Sensors are able to be calibrated. They can't be calibrated by immersion techniques, but rather they must be tested on a calibrated reference surface. EDL offers the Surface Transfer Standard STS line of calibrators for this purpose. Search STS or contact [email protected].

When using a Roller Contact Sensor, you don't need to use excessive force. You should only apply enough pressure on the band so it deflects and starts to curve around the object being tested.

When testing small diameter objects, make sure the object stays in the center of the band, do not push so hard that the band touches the block; this will damage the thermocouple wires on the back of the band. Always have at least 1/8" of deflection in the band.
